Regarding layoffs and layoff aversion. Over the past week, we have seen a greater number of layoffs than in the past year, both in the Oil and Service Industries. We've seen the COVID-19 virus to be the main cause for the service industry layoffs. While the Oil industry is not exempt from the virus, at this time layoffs are mostly related to the price of oil. In visiting with employers, who have laid employees off or are looking at that option, we are fielding many questions on unemployment and/or layoff aversion. Should you be aware of layoffs in your communities, feel free to complete the attached form with information related to the employer and email the information to Layoff@workforcesystem.org or fax 325-795-4300.
